So I went to the bank today to cancel my debit card because of the Target incident. I never shop at target…so trendy. I am more of an Eddie Bauer guy …comfortable and conservative. I was in the area and stopped at Target. I needed some wrapping paper. Who would know that my card number would be stolen and my account compromised. Damn credit thieves.
Anyway. Where was I. Oh yes.
I talked to the teller. She run ragged from exchanging cards for most bank customers all morning. I told her I would like to close my card and reopen a new one with a new number. She said sure, darting a quick glance at me while she entered my information on her computer.
Such an agreeable girl. She wore a pleasant smile and her hair tied back. Probably to show everyone her wondrous expressive face. Flush with youth unaware of the cynicism that age brings.
She asked me what color I would choose for my new card. I told her that I was indifferent. “Oh” She exclaimed. She disappeared for a minute around a corner and reappeared with a new card. She waved it at me like she had just found out she held the winning lottery ticket, “I got you a pink card. What do you think?”
Pink was an understatement. It bordered on fluorescent and I think there may have been glitter on it. I told her “She turned the mundane act of choosing a card into a fabulous event.” I said, “I am so proud to own a Debit Card that has come out of the closet. You know pink is my signature color.”
Brilliant!!!
Thank you. I smile each time I use the card now. A small victory.
Think pink!!!
Great attitude!
